Medical Fitness

The Rockwood Physical Therapy Centers provide a supportive environment for improving and sustaining individual well being through education, recreation, fitness and health promotion. Rockwood, as an entire organization, is dedicated to the model of integrated medical care as the prescription for better health. We are committed to promoting the benefits of health and fitness programs to manage and prevent lifestyle-related diseases, while making our medical fitness programs and services available throughout our community

Our primary function is to assist our patients in the reduction of the occurrence and/or severity of their condition by formulating individualized, medically supervised health-related exercise programs and providing education on healthy living. Many factors distinguish our medical fitness program, including: active and regular medical oversight; qualified and credentialed staff; disease management and clinical integration of programs; utilization of an individual's personal health status in creating an individualized exercise prescription to reduce their overall health risk; safety; and, a focus on improving community health. Preventing injury and disease is the key to our future health and well-being.

Our designation as Medical Fitness centers comes on the heels of the launch of the first-ever government issued 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. Rockwood strongly supports the guidelines and encourages all Americans to participate in these minimum recommended amounts of physical activity. Beyond meeting the physical activity levels recommended in the guidelines, Rockwood medical providers also encourage all of our community members to minimize sedentary behavior throughout the day and to eliminate other risk factors associated with poor health.
