Jon Boyum,  M.D.

Jon Boyum, M.D., received his undergraduate degree from Gonzaga University and his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery training at the University of Vermont, before serving in the Army as a general surgeon with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He then completed his thoracic surgery training at OHSU and now works in Spokane as a General Thoracic Surgeon. Dr. Boyum is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, and is a member of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons. His special interests include minimally invasive surgery and a variety of complex VATS procedures. These are procedures that typically require a large incision with a prolonged recover time. By using a camera with small incisions, patients can expect less postoperative pain and faster return to work and normal life. These procedures include lobectomy for lung cancer, decortication, thymectomy and lung biopsy. He is also experienced with minimally invasive procedures for both malignant and benign esophageal disease, including esophageal cancer, repair of diaphragmatic and large paraesophageal hernias, and surgical treatment of achalasia.

Krista Kahl,  P.A.-C

Krista Kahl, P.A.-C, joined the Rockwood Surgical Group in June 2015. She received undergraduate degrees from Eastern Washington University in Cheney and Rocky Mountain College in Billings. Krista is certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Gregory LaValle,  M.D.

Dr. LaValle is the only board certified, specialty-trained Oncology Surgeon at Rockwood, and supports rapid access consultative services for all newly diagnosed, confirmed cases of cancer which require surgical intervention. He has an advanced skill set in addressing simple biopsy to complex surgical cancer management and follow up. Dr. LaValle works in close collaboration with medical oncology, radiation oncology and other disciplines and specialists to provide a personalized care plan for each cancer patient. He supports cancer patients across Spokane by rotation to all Rockwood Cancer and Blood Specialty Centers (North, Valley and Downtown). He and his care team are committed to partnering with you, our patient, during all stages of your treatment as well as for long term follow-up support.

Deanna Lipps,  P.A.-C

Deanna Lipps, P.A.-C, received her undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson, and then completed the MEDEX Northwest Physician Assistant Program at the University of Washington in Seattle. She is certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants, and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Washington State Academy of Physician Assistants.

Paul Myers,  M.D., FACS

Paul Myers, M.D., received his undergraduate and Master of Science degrees from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN, He received his medical degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, OH. Dr. Myers completed his residency in general surgery at the Ohio State Hospitals also in Columbus. He belongs to the American Board of Surgery and has special interest in cancer, and gastrointestinal surgery. Dr. Myers has been a physician at Rockwood Clinic since 1990.

Stephen Reese,  M.D.

Stephen Reese, M.D., FACS, received his undergraduate degrees from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He received his graduate and medical degrees from Saba University School of Medicine in Netherlands-Antilles. Dr. Reese completed an internship and residency in general surgery at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Heidi Richardson,  M.D.

Heidi Richardson, M.D., received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA. She received her medical degree, as well as completed a residency in general surgery and a fellowship in breast surgery, from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in Iowa City, IA. Dr. Richardson belongs to the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.

Damon Sheneman,  D.O.

Damon Sheneman, D.O., received his medical degree from the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ, and completed a residency in General Surgery at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center (an Affiliate of The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill) in Wilmington, NC. Dr. Sheneman is a Diplomat of and board certified by the American Board of Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His practice focuses on highly advanced laparoscopic surgeries such as appendectomies, splenectomies and hernia repair. Dr. Sheneman also specializes in surgical treatment of infections, percutaneous procedures including tracheotomy and gastrostomy tubes, and complex wound management.

Byron Wright,  M.D., FACS
